The Whitegoods Trade Association has been asked for its views and, more importantly, its members views on the DEGs (Domestic Electrical Goods) Review announced recently by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT). You can read the WTA final report if you are a member from the link in the forums and the announcement of the review on the DASA website here.
It is fair to say that, in general from the information that we have gathered so far, that our members feel that the market is not operating correctly and that some manufacturers have, in effect, created their own monopolies on aftercare and servicing of major domestic appliances. This is therefore not a fair market and is not, in our member's opinions, in the interest of consumers as they will often have no choice but the manufacturer's own service should a product become defective.

The Whitegoods Trade Association are pleased to confirm that our next meeting has been arranged for Friday 24th September at the Hilton hotel, Coventry (Link below). This meeting is open to members and non-members, so everyone is welcome, buffet lunch and refreshments are provided free of charge.
Although the final agenda has not been formalised, the day will consist of many presentations, that will range from spares suppliers, appliance distributers, to vehicle tracking demonstrations, so there will be a lot ‘On show’. As well as this, there will be ‘Open Floor’ discussions, and updates from the WTA on progressions regarding the Code of Practice and discount deals that we have recently sealed for members.
Rooms have been reserved for Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th September, so if anyone would like to reserve a room at a WTA discounted rate, please contact me directly at:
